Treatment options may include hands-on care such as massage and joint mobilisation, structured exercise therapy, hydrotherapy sessions, dry needling, the use of electrotherapy, hot or cold applications, and education to support your recovery.
If possible, wear loose, comfortable clothing, such as shorts and a t-shirt. Your physio will need to be able to easily access the affected area, and tight or restrictive clothing can impede this. It’s recommended to wear comfortable footwear, as you may be on your feet and moving around.
This varies from person to person, as it depends on the nature and severity of your condition. Some people also respond better to treatment than others. Your physio will be able to advise on the expected number of sessions and will work with you to gradually decrease their frequency.
Some patients do feel mild discomfort during sessions, but physiotherapy should not cause significant pain. Let your physio know right away if something doesn’t feel right.
