Your Physiotherapy Questions Answered
Our physios may employ a variety of treatments in the management of your condition, including hands-on therapies (such as soft tissue massage and joint mobilisation), exercise therapy, hydrotherapy, hot and cold therapy, and patient education.
If possible, wear loose, comfortable clothing, such as shorts and a t-shirt. Your physio will need to be able to easily access the affected area, and tight or restrictive clothing can impede this. It’s recommended to wear comfortable footwear, as you may be on your feet and moving around.
This varies from person to person, as it depends on the nature and severity of your condition. Some people also respond better to treatment than others. Your physio will be able to advise on the expected number of sessions and will work with you to gradually decrease their frequency.
While some patients may experience some discomfort, physio treatment should in itself not be very painful. If you feel any discomfort during your session, be sure to communicate this to your physiotherapist so that they can adjust their technique accordingly.
